The model calculates WNI (index range: 1-3) and PRI (index range: 1-3) to generate a possible sum of 0 to 6. This range is divided into three groups using equal intervals to identify Low, Medium and High CFO Index. Since WNI is generated by watershed and PRI is generated by forest, there are two approaches to evaluate Conservation Finance Opportunity: by forest or by watershed. This layer shows conservation finance opportunities by watershed.
Overlay WNI (watershed) and PRI (forest), summarize the PRI using watersheds as the input geometry to identify the average PRI within a watershed (note: since most watersheds fall entirely within a forest boundary, many of the resulting values are whole numbers, as opposed to summarizing WNI by forest in the previous method). Watersheds have forest name based on which forest that watershed mostly intersects. Add the resulting Mean PRI to WNI. Create Low, Medium, High index using equal interval breaks: Summarize PRI by watershed (PRI_Mean): 1 - 3
Take the resulting Mean Partnership Readiness Index and add to Watershed Needs Index:
(PRI_Mean) + (Watershed_Needs_Index) = PRIMean_WNI _Sum
Create final CFO_Index by watershed from results:
PRIMean_WNI _Sum CFO_Index
1 - 2.66 1
2.67 - 4.33 2
4.34 - 6 3 |
