Service Description: This map service is intended for use as the basemap for recreation site web pages from the US Forest Service. It is also used as a reference map in the Interactive Visitor Map to display roads, trails, forests, wilderness, wild and scenic river, and surface ownership. The Roads and Trails, Wilderness, National Forest, Surface Owernship, and Wild and Scenic River data shown in this map service are all EDW data layers. This tiled (cached) map service is updated every weekend. Because of this, the roads and trails displayed in these applications will only have new information after the weekend. If a road or trail is added on a Tuesday in SDE, the changes will not make it to IVM or the Recreation Site Web Page base map until the following Monday morning.
