Description: Data is derived from U.S. Census Bureau 5-year American Community Survey (ACS) estimates. Counties are classified as rural, semi-rural, or metropolitan based on the Economic Research Service’s Rural-Urban Continuum (RUC) codes: RUC codes 1-3 are the metropolitan group; 4-6 the semi-rural group; and 7-9 the rural group. Each county is assigned a relative concentration value for the population of interest, e.g., low income, according to a comparison with the sum of the population of interest in all counties within its group in its region. Currently, the map service includes feature classes for the population characteristics of Low Income and Race & Ethnicity for all regions from the 2016-2020 ACS. Low Income is defined as individuals from households that report income less than 200% the federal poverty threshold reported in table C17002. Race & Ethnicity describes individuals that self-identify as Hispanic, Black, Indigenous or other person of color as reported in table B03002. The analysis assigns each county one of seven concentration levels ranging from "Zero or nearly none" to "Extremely High", notes the data quality of the analysis, and provides the lower bound, central, and upper bound estimates for the populations as reported in the ACS dataset.Within the RaceEthnicity_2020 feature class the following list of attributes can be found:OBJECTID: ID associated with the selected county.Shape: Geometry type.GEOID: Census geoid for the county.COUNTY: County name.
