Sub-watersheds with the highest value have high surface drinking water importance, have high amounts of forested lands, and are highly threatened by insect and disease. The index was created by multiplying the Index of Forest Importance to Surface Drinking Water by the percent of sub-watershed highly threatened by insects and disease.
