Description: This layer provides information on where there is potentially timber volume available for harvest. All areas designated wilderness have volumes set to 0.Timber economics is defined by merchantable cubic-foot volume (MCFV) derived from averaging estimates of the Forest Inventory Analysis (FIA) data for all plots that have the same Dom Mid 40, Tree Size Class, and Canopy Cover Class. These averages are joined to VMap polygons by common VMap characteristics in DOM40, Treecanopy, and Treesize (STATLINK).After the FIA summary database is joined to VMapby the STATLINK attribute, the data is converted to a raster layer. Next, the Focal Sum Rescale Raster 0-100 tool was used to sum values within a 1-mile focal window. Then the tool rescaled the data to 0 to 100.*Update - This layer was created by merging together the Economic layers from each Pod (Northern Idaho, Western Montana, and East) to create one Regional Economic Layer.
