Service Description: The LANDFIRE Biophysical Settings (BpS) raster datasets (LF16_BPS_200) were combined with the Monitoring Trends in Burn Severity (MTBS) data (1984-2021) and composite burn index (CBI, for 2022 only) to identify areas that have experienced unnaturally severe wildfires in the recent past (1984-2022). The LowSev attribute represents areas mapped with a dominate condition of low severity fire but had a moderate or high severity fire pixel in that location. The ModSev attribute represents areas mapped with a dominant condition of mixed-severity MTBS (or CBI in 2022) fire and had a high severity MTBS (or CBI in 2022) fire pixel in that location. The CBI data serves as a bridge until MTBS data are available.

Description: The LANDFIRE Percent Low Severity Fire and Percent Mixed-severity Fire (LF 1.3.0) datasets were combined with the Monitoring Trends in Burn Severity (MTBS) data (1984-2015) to identify areas that have experienced unnaturally severe wildfires in the recent past (1984-2015). The LowSevattribute represents areas mapped with greater than 50% Low Severity Fire and a moderate or high severity fire MTBS mapped fire at the same location
