Red Lodge Mountain is seeking grant funding for the purchase of a cordwood biomass burner boiler and the associated equipment to produce and store heat.
1) Utilize wood currently to wast being harvested for hazardous forest fuels and forest health projects. 2)Become more efficient, treating more acrs and less costly at forest restoration treatments by utilizing the lowest value timber. 3)Significantly lower the heating cost of the main lodge replacing most of the current expensive electric heat load with wood biomass harvested on the mountain. 4)Use the project to help educate the public about woody biomass energy and forest management issues and projects on the mountain.
