Welcome to DATIM!

The Design and Analysis Toolkit for Inventory and Monitoring (DATIM) is a suite of software tools used for designing inventory and monitoring programs and analyzing the results of those programs.

News and Alerts:

  • 4/3/2024 10:56:22 AM CT: A new version of SIT Pro has been released. The addin located on the T-Drive has been updated, but we are still waiting for the download link on the SIT page to update. Internal FS users can access the addin directly by going to the T-Drive directory described on the SIT page. External users without access to the T-Drive can reach out to us on the Contact Us page for a direct download.
  • 3/26/2024 12:21:24 PM CT: User accounts are required to be locked (inactivated) after 60 days of inactivity. Locked accounts will usually trigger an "eAuthNotAuthenticated" or "eAuth authentication is not supported by this server" error. If your account has been locked, you can request reactivation by reaching out to us through our Contact Us page.
  • 3/1/2024 7:57:39 AM CT: DATIM relies on data pulled from FIADB. The FIADB v1.9.1 release included new cubic-foot volume data for saplings (trees 1.0 to 4.9 d.b.h./d.r.c.). The volume, growth, and mortality data for these trees was not properly loaded to the database. Users should be aware that estimates for cubic-foot volume, growth, and mortality (with a minimum diameter of 1.0 inch) derived from ATIM may be erroneous. The issue will be fully resolved with the release of FIADB v1.9.2 and subsequent loading of that data into the DATIM database. Thank you for your patience.
  • 1/18/2024 11:05:46 AM CT: For spatial intersections, DATIM is transitioning away from ArcMap and towards ArcGIS Pro. SIT will be available for both applications through September 2024, afterward the ArcMap addin will be decommissioned and only the ArcGIS Pro addin will be available. If you have any questions, please reach out to us through the Contact Us form.
  • 6/1/2023 4:17:38 PM CT: Warning: FIA’s Alaska inventory is not spatially complete and FIA inventory unit boundaries do not follow Alaska’s borough and census area boundaries or ecoregions. Therefore estimates and statistics based on these spatial features may be misleading. For more information, please refer to FIA Tools and Data.
  • 3/10/2022 12:47:29 PM CT: Users should be aware that the creation of a custom analysis with custom estimation units will not work if a user selects more than one forest. The analysis may get created but results will be spurious. Custom estimation unit creation is in BETA and future efforts will accommodate this need.

DATIM Tools

With the exception of the Spatial Intersection Tool (SIT) and My Dashboard (Saved Objects), you do not need to login to use DATIM. To access advanced features, such as saving your work to the DATIM server, please login.

To get started, select one of the tools below.

Analysis Tool for Inventory and Monitoring (ATIM)
Generate reports of estimate summary attributes for an area of interest and survey year. Users can select existing analysis datasets for use in reporting. Advanced users (login required) can create new analysis datasets.

Design Tool for Inventory and Monitoring (DTIM)
Design an inventory and monitoring plan to address specific information needs by identifying objectives, questions and metrics.

Spatial Intersection Tool (SIT)
Perform spatial intersections between plot-based data and user-selected geospatial layers, and return map attributes for use in ATIM summaries.

My Dashboard (Saved Objects)
Access and manage your custom collection of ATIM reports and analyses, SIT attributes, and DTIM projects. Depending on the object type, you can view, edit, run, or share your custom objects with other users. You can also access custom objects shared with you by other users.

USDA eAuth Login:
If you are interested in saving your ATIM Reports, SIT Attributes, etc. to the DATIM server, please click the Login button below and sign in with your USDA eAuthentication Account. If you do not have an account already, you can create one from the same page by following on-screen instructions.
You will be redirected to the USDA eAuthentication website to either sign in or create an account. Afterwards, you will be returned back to DATIM.
