Stewardship contracting includes natural resource management practices seeking to promote a closer working relationship with local communities in a broad range of activities that improve land conditions. StwrdCntrctng_LN (Stewardship Contracting: Line) depicts the linear activities within Stewardship Contracting Project Boundary. Activities are implemented through stewardship contracts or agreements and are self-reported by Forest Service Units through the FACTS (Forest Service Activity Tracking System) database. This feature class is derived from Activity linear features and FACTS Activities tabular data located in the EDW.
This layer represents activities entered through FACTS accomplished through stewardship contracts and agreements. Stewardship End Result Contracting helps achieve land management goals while meeting local and rural community needs, including contributing to the sustainability of rural communities and providing a continuing source of local income and employment. It focuses on the "end result" ecosystem benefits and outcomes, rather than on what's removed from the land. The USDA Forest Service and the Interior Department's Bureau of Land Management (BLM) received authority to implement stewardship contracting and agreements in Section 347 Omnibus Consolidated Appropriations Act of FY 1999, as amended by Sec. 323 of P.L. 108-7, 2003. As spatial data is a new requirement for the program, we hope to improve the quality and comprehensiveness of this data in coming years.
A required set of core attributes must be collected during field work and electronically stored in the corporate NRM FACTS application to meet the minimum business needs of this protocol. Required attributes are established to meet corporate expectations of reporting, monitoring or data sharing. All required and optional fields in this protocol are supported in the NRM FACTS application. Some attributes are auto-generated and populated in the FACTS application from the spatial feature. Detailed attribute descriptions and collection standards follow later in this document under Resource, Fields, Entity and Attribute Information.

Data entry is accomplished by authorized Forest Service personnel through a web application behind the U.S. Forest Service firewall and is restricted by access requirement protocols. Further data checks occur during data migration, where certain fields such as ETL_MODIFIED and EDW_INSERT_DATE are populated with valid information.
Data is accurate up to the publication date and attribute domains are valid values from Natural Resource Manager (NRM) Forest Activity Tracking System (FACTS).
Generally the source information used to record spatial locations are from: 1) on-screen digitizing with a georeferenced topographic or image background; or 2) GPS field collected positions.
The Activity_StwdrshpCntrctng_LN feature class is derived from Activity linear features and FACTS Activities tabular data located in the EDW. The following describes the steps for processing data for this feature class.
Step 1. Select linear features from the ActivityLine feature class. Features are selected by SUID (Subunit ID) and based on a ranking order of value in its STAGE column. The Stage values are ranked in the order as follows: 3,2,1,6,5,4,0,NULL. (Example: if there are two features with the same SUID, one with a stage value of 3 and one with a stage value of 6, the feature with a stage value of 3 is kept for processing and feature with stage value of 6 is not kept for processing).

Step 2. The selected features from step 1 are then aggregated by SUID and stage so that there will be only one feature per SUID and stage value.

Step 3. The features from step 2 are joined by SUID with attributes from the Activity_Facts_Attribute table in the EDW. Only records from Activity_Facts Attributes with fiscal year accomplished from 2013 on and workforce codes like SC or fund code like SSC or GSRV are joined.

Stewardship contracting includes natural resource management practices seeking to promote a closer working relationship with local communities in a broad range of activities that improve land conditions. These projects shift the focus of federal forest and rangeland management towards a desired future resource condition. <DIV STYLE="text-align:Left;"><DIV><DIV><P><SPAN>StwrdCntrctng_LN (Stewardship Contracting: Line) depicts the linear activities within Stewardship Contracting Project Boundary. Activities are implemented through stewardship contracts or agreements and are self-reported by Forest Service Units through the FACTS (Forest Service Activity Tracking System) database. This feature class is derived from Activity linear features and FACTS Activities tabular data located in the EDW.</SPAN></P></DIV></DIV></DIV>
This layer represents activities entered through FACTS accomplished through stewardship contracts and agreements. Stewardship End Result Contracting helps achieve land management goals while meeting local and rural community needs, including contributing to the sustainability of rural communities and providing a continuing source of local income and employment. It focuses on the "end result" ecosystem benefits and outcomes, rather than on what's removed from the land. The USDA Forest Service and the Interior Department's Bureau of Land Management (BLM) received authority to implement stewardship contracting and agreements in Section 347 Omnibus Consolidated Appropriations Act of FY 1999, as amended by Sec. 323 of P.L. 108-7, 2003. As spatial data is a new requirement for the program, we hope to improve the quality and comprehensiveness of this data in coming years.

A required set of core attributes must be collected during field work and electronically stored in the corporate NRM FACTS application to meet the minimum business needs of this protocol. Required attributes are established to meet corporate expectations of reporting, monitoring or data sharing. All required and optional fields in this protocol are supported in the NRM FACTS application. Some attributes are auto-generated and populated in the FACTS application from the spatial feature. Detailed attribute descriptions and collection standards follow later in this document under Resource, Fields, Entity and Attribute Information.

Data entry is accomplished by authorized Forest Service personnel through a web application behind the U.S. Forest Service firewall and is restricted by access requirement protocols. Further data checks occur during data migration, where certain fields such as ETL_MODIFIED and EDW_INSERT_DATE are populated with valid information.
Data is accurate up to the publication date and attribute domains are valid values from Natural Resource Manager (NRM) Forest Activity Tracking System (FACTS).
Generally the source information used to record spatial locations are from: 1) on-screen digitizing with a georeferenced topographic or image background; or 2) GPS field collected positions.
The Activity_StwdrshpCntrctng_LN feature class is derived from Activity linear features and FACTS Activities tabular data located in the EDW. The following describes the steps for processing data for this feature class. Step 1. Select linear features from the ActivityLine feature class. Features are selected by SUID (Subunit ID) and based on a ranking order of value in its STAGE column. The Stage values are ranked in the order as follows: 3,2,1,6,5,4,0,NULL. (Example: if there are two features with the same SUID, one with a stage value of 3 and one with a stage value of 6, the feature with a stage value of 3 is kept for processing and feature with stage value of 6 is not kept for processing).

Step 2. The selected features from step 1 are then aggregated by SUID and stage so that there will be only one feature per SUID and stage value.

Step 4. After joining the linear features and tabular data , the resulting features with joined attributes are inserted into the ActivityInitiatives_StwrdshpCntrctng_LN feature class.

Step 3. The features from step 2 are joined by SUID with attributes from the Activity_Facts_Attribute table in the EDW. Only records from Activity_Facts Attributes with fiscal year accomplished from 2013 on and workforce codes like SC or fund code like SSC or GSRV are joined.
